Metronidazole 400mg is used to treat various types of disease. Some of them are:

Trichomoniasis: It is the common cause of Vaginitis and is a sexually transferred disease. It is also called Trich. In women, common Trich infection takes place in vagina and urethra. Symptoms include inflammation of cervicitis, vagina and urethra and appear in 6 to 30 days of exposure. As this spreads due to sexual relations, use of male condoms may prevent Trichomoniasis. Women suffering from Trichomoniasis may give birth to premature or low weight infant. Metronidazole 400 mg or flagyl is found to be very effective in treating Trich.

Bacterial vaginosis – BV: It happens when there is imbalance of bacteria (bad bacteria increase in number to good ones) in vagina. Out of three, at least one woman is suffering from this disease. Usual vaginal discharge (smell like a fish) is usually the cause of BV. But it is strange to write here that most of the women do not have any symptoms, so it becomes difficult to expose BV. Smoking, IUD (intrauterine device), bubble baths, scented soaps and vaginal deodorant are also the most obvious reasons of Bacterial Vaginosis.

Pelvic inflammatory disease – PID: It is infection in upper genital tract of the woman which includes womb, ovaries and fallopian tubes. Quite common in women aged in between 15 to 24 years, one out of 50 women encounters PID every year. The symptoms of Pelvic inflammatory disease are not always obvious so it becomes very difficult to diagnose it. Metronidazole 400mg works quickly to kill the bacteria causing infection in womb, ovaries and fallopian tubes.

Giardiasis: Also known as beaver fever and develop as a result of an infection in digestive systems due to tiny parasite called Giardiasis. The common causes of Giardiasis are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, flatulenceand bloating.
